If that happens, the best thing to do is to contact your credit provider immediately to see if you can sort the issue. If the activity was fraudulent, you could talk to them about getting the amount reversed and fixing your credit information. 

Alternatively, you can talk to credit reporter Equifax to sort your information and get it fixed.
